Restoring Accountability

Tony believes that it is her duty as an elected official to serve every constituent she represents. Illinois has seen enough politicians who continuously propose and pass legislation that unethically and selfishly help themselves and their re-elections. It is more important than ever to eliminate conflicts of interest, corruption, and unethical behavior. Tony works to rebalance the power within the government by empowering the citizens of Illinois. Tony McCombie has sponsored and co-sponsored several pieces of legislation to bring accountability and transparency.

As your State Representative, Tony is humbled to serve and continue to fight for structural and political reforms that will build up and grow Illinois.

Back the Badge

The number one goal in government is to protect the people we serve. Instead, Illinois legislators backed efforts to weaken police departments across the state, despite rising crime rates. We must empower the law enforcement community by providing them with the tools to get violent offenders off the streets. We need to combine resources with a plan to protect victims and address the root causes.

As a member of the Judiciary-Criminal committee, Restorative Justice committee, and the Public Safety & Violence Prevention Task Force, Tony will work with the law enforcement community, advocates, and her colleagues across the aisle to find ways to solve problems that will make our state a safe place to raise families.

Protecting Your Second Amendment Right

The right to keep and bear arms is protected by the U.S. Constitution as well as Illinois’, so legislation used to heavily regulate, and control gun purchases infringes upon your basic rights as an American. Chicago politicians continue to chip away the rights of law-abiding gun owners, passing some of the toughest gun laws in the nation while simultaneously ignoring those illegally using firearms to commit crimes.

As a proud FOID card carrier with a concealed carry license, Tony will continue to fight to protect the Second Amendment rights of people across Illinois. Tony is a proud member of the Sportsman Caucus, the NRA, the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA), and several gun and sport clubs.

Supporting Illinois Family Farmers

Farmland covers 75% of the state of Illinois. Agriculture is the state’s largest economic driver and helps feed families around the world. Tony tours area farms to learn about the day-to-day operations to get a first-hand account of how policy and regulations coming from the state and federal government impact the goods farmers produce.

Tony will continue to work with leaders around the state to lessen burdensome regulations on Illinois’ farmers so that they have every opportunity to successfully operate.

Promoting Job Creation and Growth

Tony works with the business community and area leaders to promote and create opportunities for Northwest Illinois. We can improve Illinois’ business climate by recognizing our state’s strengths and creating an economic environment that encourages economic expansion.

As a small business owner, Tony understands how burdensome taxes, increased regulations, anti-business legislation can hinder job growth. Combining our strengths with sound economic policies enables those chasing the American dream to find it right here in Illinois. Tony will continue to advocate for pro-growth policies and strongly opposes increasing taxes and burdening small businesses with unnecessary regulations.

Bringing Fiscal Sanity Back to Springfield

Government leaders conveniently forget the money they are spending comes from hard working Illinoisians. The government needs to live by the same standards as we do. We cannot spend more money than we have, and the people of Illinois sent a clear message by rejecting Governor Pritzker’s progressive tax in 2020.

Tony stands with taxpayers by refusing to support unbalanced state budgets, tax increases, or legislative pay increases. Decades of reckless spending, borrowing, sweeping agency funds, shortchanging education, and pension payments brought us to this place today. Failing to address the inefficiencies in government only prolongs taxpayers subsidizing more bloated budgets, eventually leading to reduced services.

Tony firmly believes in a common sense and transparent budgeting process. Crafting budgets behind closed doors and requiring a vote without sufficient time to review it is a disserve to taxpayers.

Valuing Education

A successful economy requires a well-educated and well-rounded workforce. Tony supports fully funding our schools with the evidence-based funding formula. Expanding and promoting vocational opportunities will ensure our children can continue their education after high school. As a member of the Elementary & Secondary Education: Curriculum & Policies committee, Tony kept her promise to educators by voting against unfunded mandates and supporting local control within our school districts.

The State Legislature fails to follow its constitutional mandate of fully funding education. Illinois has short-changed school districts, forcing them to raise property taxes. This position is bad public policy and the main reason Illinois now has some of the highest property taxes in the nation. High property taxes hurt middle-class families, local businesses, and our economic growth. Tony will continue to advocate for adequate funding for all schools across the State and provide teachers the resources they need to educate our kids.
